04.02.16 Marit (Henckel) & Zach Brown

My big day started with pampering. The most important women in my life and I enjoyed getting our hair done, makeovers, yummy breakfast, and of course, mimosas! Zach and the groomsmen spent the morning hanging out and taking a crash YouTube course on folding pocket squares. Having a mid-afternoon ceremony allowed us stress-free time to prepare ourselves for our “I do.”

Zach and I kept to tradition and didn’t see each other before the ceremony. I’m not sure who shed more tears as I walked down the aisle—Zach, my dad, or me! Afterward, we took photographs, made perfect by the weather and overcast sky. We loved the bright, fun photos that our photographer, Emily, took of us with our bridal party. Each one reminds us of the beautiful friends and family who supported us on our oh-so-important day.

One memory stands out above the rest. A bride’s nightmare—our limo broke down in the middle of downtown La Crosse! But, what might have been a tragedy, turned out to be a fun adventure. A biker gang helped push the limo out of the intersection, and we decided to walk the remaining two blocks to the Court Above Main. It was an absolute blast to show off my bridal party on the sidewalks of La Crosse, and I’ve never laughed so much!

The rest of the night was one big party. After dinner and speeches, we ate cake and even had The Pearl bring an ice cream stand inside the reception hall. Full of sugar, everyone had energy to dance the night away. The party didn’t stop when the DJ left. Instead, we headed downtown to continue the celebration. Zach and I wanted to squeeze every single minute of enjoyment out of our wedding day, and we did!
