05.02.15 Dana (Riley) & Mark Von Ruden

Mark and I are the classic story of high school sweethearts who vowed to take on the rest of life’s adventures together. After dating for seven years, we became engaged and made the gutsy choice to have an early May wedding in Wisconsin—not knowing if we would have snow, a torrential downpour, or decent weather. The forecast was the first sign that everything was going to fall into place just perfectly.

We woke up bright and early and began preparing for the day, which turned out to be sunny and 70 degrees. Surrounded by our friends and family, I began the day with the help of coffee and a talented makeup artist (you couldn’t even tell that I got minimal sleep the night before due to nerves and anticipation). Soon, we were at the church getting dressed, taking pictures, and waiting for the ceremony to start. Mark and I saved our “first look” for the walk down the aisle. It was a special moment that we wouldn’t change for the world. After our tear-filled vows, the exchange of rings, and our first kiss, we were overcome by love, happiness, and eagerness to celebrate with everyone.

Our photographer found the perfect spot in downtown La Crosse to take pictures of our wedding party. It was so much fun to joke around with everyone while people drove by, honked, and yelled ‘”Congratulations!” We also had photos taken on the golf course at Drugan’s before heading inside. We spent the night mingling, laughing, and dancing with our loved ones. The dance floor was full until the end, and we were so happy that everyone enjoyed themselves.

We jokingly say that we wish we could relive our wedding every couple of years. Most couples refer to their wedding day as “The Best Day Ever,” and we are no exception! TWM
